Lillian Esslinger

Lillian June Esslinger was born on June 16, 1924 the daughter of Joseph Heiniger and Delle Meyer Heiniger at Oneida, Kansas. She was united in marriage to Vernon Esslinger on September 7, 1947 at Sabetha, Kansas. Born to this union were 3 daughters and one son. Lillian worked in various homes as a housekeeper and was also employed by the Williams Cleaners in Sabetha before her marriage. She and her husband farmed and lived most of their married life north- west of Morrill before they retired and moved to Sabetha in August of 1993. Lillian was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church since her youth.


Lillian died on June 8, 2009 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon on March 29, 1997; one son Jerome Esslinger; three brothers, Wilbur Heiniger, James Raymond Heiniger and Howard Heiniger; one sister, Dorothy Meyer. Lillian is survived by her daughters, Judy Webb of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Deanna J. Morland of Burden, Kansas and Dolene "Beth" Shearer of Norman, Oklahoma; two granddaughters and 3 grandsons and 2 great granddaughters.


Funeral services will be Friday, June 12, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bern Apostolic Christian Church. A family visitation will be Thursday evening 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. The interment will be in the Sabetha Cemetery. Memorial contribution may be made to the donor's choice sent in care of the funeral home.
