Linda Rae Gerdes

Linda Rae Gerdes, 78, of Humboldt, Nebraska, died on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt.  

Linda was born on October 3, 1947, in Humboldt, Nebraska, the daughter of Ray and Nedra (Bright) Stevicks. She grew up in Dawson, Nebraska, and attended Dawson-Verdon High School, graduating in 1966. After high school, Linda attended Reece and Syvil Cosmetology School in Lincoln, Nebraska. She then attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Science. On March 5, 1967, she was united in marriage to Gary Gerdes of Humboldt, Nebraska, and three children were born to this union. Gary passed away on April 23, 2020.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gary; her in-laws, Terry Sailors, Gary Feldmann, Dorothy and Jesse Gerdes, and Loren and Becky Gerdes.

Linda is survived by her three children, Teresa (Jon) McQueen, Tracy (Jennifer) Gerdes, and Tina Gerdes and special friend, Stephen Jasper; her six grandchildren, Jessica (Adam) Gruber, Brett McQueen, Thomas (Shannan) McQueen, Jesse Gerdes and fiancé, Tamara Hall, Alli Gerdes, and Alex Nelsen; her six great-grandchildren, Raelynn Gruber, Aryss Gruber, Paityn Gruber, Kendel McQueen, Harley Nelsen, and Hardin Anderson; her two sisters, Jeanne Feldmann and Jackie (Steve) Lewis; her two brothers, Larry (Glenda) Stevicks and Melvin (Boonta) Stevicks; her in-laws, Donna Donavan, Bill Donavan, and Marilyn (Tom) Glather; and her many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha, Kansas, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
