Lois Meyer

L ois Marie Meyer of Sabetha passed from this life into eternity with Christ at the age of 93, at the Apostolic Christian Nursing Home in Sabetha on Saturday, August 10, 2013.

She was born February 29, 1920 to Eli Meyer, Sr. and Emma (Edelman) Meyer, on a farm near Bern, KS.  Lois attended Union Country School through the 8 ^th grade. As a young woman, she moved to Illinois, and worked as a cook for a family in Peoria. After moving back to Kansas, Lois worked for over twenty years as a nurse aide at the Sabetha Community Hospital, and as a housekeeper for many families in the Sabetha area. She was a long-time member of the Christian Apostolic Church in Sabetha.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Nadine Edelman and Alma Steidinger; two brothers Eli Meyer, Jr. and Herbert Meyer, who died in his youth.

Surviving Lois is a brother, Robert Meyer of Bern, KS, a sister, Mary Helen Neukomm of Cissna Park, IL, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. at the Christian Apostolic Church in Sabetha.  A visitation will be held at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon.  The interment will be made in the Sabetha Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia Sabetha, Kansas  66534.
