Lois Meyer

Lois L. Meyer of Sabetha passed from this life at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha, KS on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at the age of 84.

She was born January 6, 1927 near Fairview, KS to Joseph W. and Esther D. (Stoller) Steiner. Lois attended IXL Country School west of Sabetha, and graduated from Sabetha High School in 1944.

Lois was united in marriage to Eli Meyer, Jr. of Bern, in 1950. They made their home near Sabetha, where they raised nine children and operated a crop and dairy farm. They moved into an apartment in the Apostolic Christian Retirement Village in 1994. Lois entered the Apostolic Christian Nursing Home in the spring of 2011. She was a long-time member of the Apostolic Christian Church.

Lois was preceded in death by Eli; sons-in-law, Dale Strahm and Gordon Huber; grandchildren, Clay Strahm and Mary Anne Huber; her parents; a sister, Estelle Steiner, and a brother Loren Steiner.

Surviving are her children, Shelby Strahm, Sharlyn Huber, Nancy Rokey and her husband Galen, Cynthia Strahm and her husband Rod, Jana Strahm and her husband Faron, and Richard Meyer and his wife Joni, all of Sabetha; Steve Meyer and his wife Kaye of Bern; Marcel Huber and her husband Eric of Aurora, CO, and Lanette Meyer of Northglenn, CO; 28 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. Also surviving Lois are brothers, Joe Jr, Lyle, Norman, Merlin and James; and sisters Florence Meyer, Mary Marti, Eleanor Weiss and Jeanette George.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, August 6, 2011 at the Sabetha Apostolic Christian Church at 6:30 p.m. A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. preceding the funeral at the Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nemaha County Home Health and Hospice or the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha, sent in care of the funeral home.
