Lois Sawyer

January 30, 1948 — November 3, 2016

L ois Eilene (Ashton) Sawyer, 68, of Hiawatha formally of Sabetha died November 3, 2016 at her residence.  She was born on January 30, 1948 the daughter of Lloyd Ashton and Virginia (McKee) Ashton at Horton, Kansas. She grew up in the Fairview area.  She was united in marriage to Jim Hull.  They moved to Valley Falls, Kansas and later in life moved to Grand Rapids, Minnesota.  They then moved back to Sabetha. Lois worked for Southwestern Bell in Topeka, the Cozy Café in Fairview and the Sabetha Manor.  Her main joy in life was doing her clowning.  Her clown name was Chuckles.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gary Sawyer; son, Marty Hull; brother, Dennis Ashton.  She is survived by her daughter, Mandy (Mike) Perkins; sister, Debbie Meyer and 4 grandchildren, KaLeigh Mortorff, Beritny Mortorff, Dennis Mortorff and Kelby Perkins.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fairview United Church of Christ.  A visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to help with funeral expenses sent in care of Popkess Mortuary 823 Virginia Sabetha, Kansas 66534.
