Lola Rogers

September 6, 1913 — February 24, 2013

L ola May (Dillaplain) Rogers, life on this earth expired after 99 years as an Angel doing Gods work has now become an Angel in Heaven at the Apostolic Christian Home on Sunday, February 24, 2013.

She was born on September 6, 1913 at Fairview, Kansas the daughter of Porter Dillaplain and Caroline (Haulaur) Dillaplain.  Lola May attended New Hope School grade 1 through 8 and 9 through 10 at Fairview High School.

Lola spent her life helping family and friends and assisted groups that fed the homeless and furnished comfort items to the needy.  She was a member of the Westside Presbyterian Church in Lawrence, Kansas.  She was a member of the Fairview Rebecca Lodge then transferred to Lawrence.  Lola held many offices in local lodges and the Sate Assembly, During WW II she worked 2 years at Boeing in Wichita, Kansas.  She worked at the Slimmaker Dress Factory in Holton, Kansas.  She retired from Montgomery Wards in Lawrence after working there 12 years.

She married the love of her life, Charles Darwin Rogers on October 25, 1930 in Hiawatha, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Darwin.  Another son was born, Ernest Bell Rogers and was taken to heaven at the early age of 2 years in 1940. She is survived by a son, Charles Weldon Rogers and his wife, Isabel of Fairview, Kansas; sister-in-laws, Nellie Alice (Rogers) Hoff of Garland, Texas and Beverly Dillaplain of Muscatine, Iowa; step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews all of whom she loved so very much.

Lola will lie instate after 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha.

Funeral service will be Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Fairview.  A visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 to service time at the church.  The interment will be made in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Hiawatha.  Memorial contributions may be made to the United Church of Christ in Fairview, Fairview Community Building or the Apostolic Christian Home sent in care of the Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia Sabetha, Kansas  66534.
