Loran Ross Priest was born on July 30, 1920 the son of Chester Priest and Emma Noll Priest at Sabetha, Kansas. Loran was one of four sons born to this union.

Loran spent most of his life in and around the Sabetha area. He worked for Roberts Construction, Wenger Mill's and Union Gas Propane Company from which he retired in 1985. During his lifetime he enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. Loran was an avid gardener. He served in the military during World War II and was a lifetime member of the Sabetha VFW Post #7285.

On April 6, 1947 Loran was united in marriage to Eilene Brammer. To this union was born three sons, Ron Priest, Gary Priest and Dan Priest.

Loran died on March 27, 2007 at the Sabetha Community Hospital at the age of 86.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ron Priest; his wife, Eilene Priest.

Loran is survived by Ron Priest's daughter, Brooke Osterhaus of Emporia; two sons, Gary Priest and his wife, Paula of Sabetha their two children, Mark Priest of Papillion, Nebraska and Jodi Broxterman of Sabetha; Dan Priest and his wife, Debbie of Topeka, Kansas and their children, Brandi Priest and Daniel Priest both of Topeka; three brothers, Chester Priest of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Lyle Priest of Topeka and Cedric Priest of Sabetha and 13 great grandchildren.


Funeral services will be Friday, March 30, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha with Reverend Kelly Sipes officiating. Linda Lehman serving as organist and Emma Boltz will sing "Wings of a Dove" and "Wind Beneath my Wings". The casket bearers will be members of the Sabetha V.F.W. Post # 7285.

A family visitation will be Thursday evening 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel.

The interment will be in the Sabetha Cemetery with Military honors conducted by the Sabetha V.F. W. Post #7285.

Memorial contribution may be made to the Sabetha V.F.W. Post #7285 sent in care of the funeral home.
