Mabel McKim

August 30, 1921 — March 3, 2015

M abel C. McKim, 93, of Sabetha formally of Morrill died Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at the Sabetha Manor.  She was the last surviving child of nine children born to Emil and Emelia (Schupp) Zimmerschied.  She was born  on August 30, 1921 and raised in the Cole Camp, Missouri area.  She moved to Kansas to care for her nieces in Morrill.  She was united in marriage to Melvin McKim in October 1945 and they were married for 58 years before Mel died in November of 2003.  She spent many years working as a nurse’s aide at the Brown County Infirmary and the Hiawatha Community Hospital.

She is survived by 5 children: Phyllis Jones and her husband, Jack of Lebo, Kansas, Barbara McKim of Dallas, Texas, Mike McKim of Kansas City, Missouri, Bob McKim and his wife, Terry of Sabetha, Kansas and Laura Jones and her husband, Les of Derby, Kansas.   Her grandchildren gave her much delight: Tony Reeves and his wife, Dianna of Emporia and their children, Miranda Wayman and her husband, Andrew, Gabrielle, Madisen, Jordan and Melanie; Bobbi Enneking and her husband, Jason of Thornton, Colorado and their child, Charli; Megan Berg and her husband, Jerry of Franklin, Tennessee and their children, Ben and Kate; Mallory McKim of Kansas City, Missouri; Ryan Jones and his wife, Hayley of Derby, Kansas and their children, Elayna and Kyson and Aaron Jones of Derby, Kansas. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews across the country that she loved dearly.

Mabel requested that she be cremated.  A private family service will be held at a later date and time.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Morrill Community Building sent in care of the Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia Sabetha, Kansas  66534.
