Margaret Bien

June 2, 1940 — February 18, 2015

M argaret “Peggy” Ellen Bien, 75, of Sabetha, Kansas, died at the Apostolic Christian Home on Wednesday, February 18, 2015.

She was born in Milton, Iowa on June 2 , 1940, the daughter of Glen and Leota Campbell.

Margaret graduated high school from Falls City High School. On September 21, 1957 Margaret married Glen D. Bien, Sr. in Falls City, Nebraska and they set up residence in Sabetha, Kansas and lived there for over 57 years.

She was employed in Sabetha, by the Fountain Villa Nursing Home as a Certified Nurses Aid for over 30 years. Peggy was an avid bowler and owned the bowling alley with her husband Glen for many years.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Glen D. Bien, Sr., a sister, Glenda Benitz of Rulo, Nebraska, a brother-in-law, George Bien of Sabetha and a brother-in-law, Virgil Smithburg of Milton, Iowa.

Survivors include her daughter, Laurene Black of Jamaica, Iowa and her son, Glen D. Bien, Jr. and his wife Kim of Bentonville, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Roberta Smithburg of Milton, Iowa, and 3 sister-in-laws, Betty Bien and Barb Keesy of Sabetha, and Mary Banks of Russell, Kansas. She also leaves behind her best friend, June Tebbutt of Seneca, KS, and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

Margaret chose to be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at the NorthRidge Church in Sabetha on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
