Margaret "Maggie" Jones, 72, of Fairview passed away on May 8, 2009 at the Sabetha Hospital in Sabetha, Kansas after losing her battle with cancer. She was born May 1, 1937 in Sutton Goldfield, England to Eric and Irene (Hackney) Benwell.

She was raised and schooled in England. Maggie met and married Larry Huber while he was stationed with the armed forces in England. They came to the United States and lived in various New England states until his discharge. After Larry's military service they made their home in Seneca, Kansas. There they owned and operated the Fleetwood Bar. Later they sold Fleetwood and bought the tavern in Fairview in 1989 and named it Checkers. They later divorced and she married John Jones on November 19, 1993. Together they owned and operated Checkers and Jones Welding Shop until they retired in 1999. After retirement they moved to Louisburg, Missouri and in September of 2004 John passed away. Maggie moved back to Fairview in 2005.

Maggie was preceded in death by her parents; and husband John.
Survivors include her brother, Robert Benwell of England and many friends in Fairview and surrounding communities.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 14th, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in rural Fairview.
