Marian Kellenberger

M arian LaVon Kellenberger, 87, of Sabetha died peacefully on July 3, 2017, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.   Marian was born in Omaha, Nebraska on May 31, 1930 to Verne and Faye (Dunn) Couch.

She attended school in the Shenandoah, Iowa and attended Sabetha High School until her family moved to the Kansas City area.

She was united in marriage to Eugene Kellenberger on June 20, 1948.  Six children were born to this union, and a grandson was adopted and raised as their son.

They lived on a dairy farm north of Sabetha and later moved to a home North of Morrill.  Marian, first and foremost, was a mom and grandmother.  She raised dogs as a business which included numerous breeds. She also worked various jobs outside the home.

Marian and Gene were converted and baptized in the Sabetha Apostolic Christian Church in 1965.  They were married for 62 years before Gene passed away in 2010.  Also preceding her in death were her daughter, Cathy Jo; parents; daughter-in-law, Kathy; sister, Joyce Fradenburgh, and brother, Dick Couch.

She is survived by her sons, Jay (Marilyn) of Sabetha and Jim (Ann) of Towanda, Illinois; a daughter, Janelle (Bob) of Merriam, Kansas; sons, Art (Joy) of Morrill, Gale (Belinda) of Morrill and Christopher (Nicole) of Mission, Kansas, two sisters, Donna Bean of Kansas City, Missouri and Jackie Robertson of Raymore, Missouri, and brother, Gary Couch of DeSoto, Kansas and 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Friday, July 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church in Sabetha.  Visitation will be Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha. The interment will be made in the Sabetha Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Home sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia Sabetha, Kansas  66534.
