Marie E. Goldsmith, 91 of Sabetha, died Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.
She was born on June 19, 1920 in Wallace, Kansas the daughter of Charles and Edith (Thompson) Kramer. She grew up on a farm and graduated from Melvern High School in 1938.
Following graduation Marie received her Normal School Teaching Certificate and taught for several years in a one room school house in Osage County.
She married Wendell E. Goldsmith on July 23, 1941 in Melvern, Kansas. To their union were born two sons and a daughter. After the war, Marie and Wendell raised their family and dedicated their lives to education, spending fifty plus years in Wakeeny, Kansas.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda and Jim Whittaker of Sabetha, Kansas; two sons, Robert and Patricia Goldsmith of Loveland, Colorado and Ronald and Merry Goldsmith of Loveland, Colorado and 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Church, 26075 South Berryton Road, Lyndon, Kansas. A visitation will be Friday evening 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. The interment will be in the Melvern Cemetery in Melvern, Kansas.
