Marie Grimm

February 14, 1923 — December 22, 2007

Marie B. Grimm, the daughter of Ben Hartter and Mary Meyer Hartter was born on February 14, 1923. She was the fifth of eleven children born to this union.

Marie grew up in the Bern area and went to Bern School for ten years. During WWII she went to Peoria, Illinois to work in a munitions plant. There she met Harvey Grimm. They were married November 19, 1944 in Sabetha, Kansas. Two sons were born to this union.

Marie worked along side her husband and her family on the family farm her whole life.

She was a member of the Bern Apostolic Christian Church from 60 years.


Marie died on December 22, 2007 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha, Kansas at the age of 84.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings in infancy; a sister, Helen Lobnitz in 1992; her husband, Harvey E. Grimm on January 10, 2001: her only granddaughter, Sally E. Grimm on March 30, 2006.

She is survived by two sons, Gordon Grimm and his wife, Sharon and Gregory Grimm all of Sabetha; three grandsons, Michael Grimm and his wife, Rebekah of Wichita, Kansas, Jonathan Grimm of Boston, Massachusetts and Jesse Grimm of Sabetha, Kansas; three brothers, Lester Hartter and Virgil Hartter both of Sabetha and Clyde Hartter of Frisco, Texas; three sisters, Eloise Bahr of Detroit, Michigan, Erma Nell Priest of Raytown, Missouri and Lavonne McGinty of Overland Park, Kansas and many first cousins and friends.



Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at the Bern Apostolic Christian Church. Family visitation will be Tuesday evening 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha and also from 9:00 to service time on Wednesday at the Church. The interment will be in the Bern Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Home and the Sabetha Community Hospital sent in care of the funeral home
