Marvin W. Moore

Marvin Wayne Moore, 87, of Morrill, Kansas, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha, Kansas.

Marvin was born on February 14, 1939, in Sabetha, to John Henry and Emily Johanna (Carlson) Moore.

Marvin attended Franklin District #52 grade school and graduated from Sabetha High School in 1957. Marvin lived on the Moore family farm his entire life. When Marvin was 16 years old, his father, John, died in a tragic farm accident. Marvin continued the farm operation with help from his mother, Emily.

Marvin married Barbara Ann Tawzer at the Delaware Baptist Church in Fairview, Kansas, on December 13, 1964. Together, they worked hard on the farm, growing row crops, haying, and operating a cow/calf business. Marvin also worked as a carpenter and spent several winters employed in Sabetha. For many years, Marvin was actively involved and served on the board of the Albany Historical Society. He was also an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Sabetha.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John A. Moore, and John’s wife, Joyce; and a grandson, Nicholas Ploeger.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Barbara, at their home in Morrill; his three daughters, Sandra “Sandy” (John) Hefty of Valley Falls, Kansas, Cynthia Hill of Sabetha, and Stacy (Mike) Ploeger, of Morrill; his ten grandchildren, Matthew (Nicole), Zachary, Elena, Hannah, Hunter, Caleb, Noah, Josiah, Faith, and Olivia; and his four great-grandchildren, Andrew, Cooper, Ellie, and Lincoln.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the mortuary. The inurnment will be held in the Sabetha Cemetery at a later date.
