Mary A. Christy, 77, died Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at the Medical Lodges in Holton, Kansas.

She was born September 25, 1930, the daughter of Joseph Lierz and Mary Rottinghaus at Frankfort, Kansas. She grew up on the family farm and attended the Allison School near Frankfort.

She was married to Roy Christy in 1962. They lived in the Axtell area where she was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Altar Society of the church and the Axtell Senior Citizens. Her husband preceded her in death February 3, 1984.

She is survived by two brothers, Raphael Lierz, Frankfort, and Henry Lierz, Baileyville; and three sisters, Genevieve "Geneva" Lierz, of the Crestview Manor, Seneca, Ann Haverkamp, Corning, and Roseanne Haverkamp. She is also survived Bill and Delaina Miller and their children Kayla, Chase, Karlie and Caliber, who were like children and grandchildren to her; they are all of Mayetta, Kansas.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Cyril Lierz, October 8, 1972, Alvin Lierz, on March 26, 1990, Joseph Lierz, on November 20, 1994 and a sister Gertrude Lierz Wilmot, December 9, 1992.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 5, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the St. Michael's Catholic Church, Axtell. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Axtell. A rosary will be Friday January 4, 2007 at 7:00 PM at the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Axtell, KS. Father Albert Hauser O.S.B. and Father Ric Halverson are celebrants and Diane Haverkamp is lector, Cleta and Sharon Haverkamp and Kayla Shaughnessy are gift bearers. Casket bearers are Bill Miller, Gary Haverkamp, Galen Haverkamp, Billy Lierz, Kenny Lierz, and Chuck Shockey. The: Landreth-Popkess Funeral Home in Axtell, KS is in charge of the arrangements.
