Mary Edelman

M ary Viola Edelman, 92, died on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the Sabetha Community Hospital.

Mary was born on November 15, 1925 in Sabetha, Kansas. She was the daughter of John D. and Mary (Bauman) Edelman. She grew up on the family farm west of Sabetha until she moved to town in 1973. Mary attended the IXL School. She worked in Peoria, Illinois for 5 years, Oneida School in the lunch room for several years, and the Sabetha Community Hospital for 22 years.

Mary moved to the Apostolic Christian Apartments in October 2008. She enjoyed spending her time cooking, gardening, quilting, and helping out family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, Levi Edelman, Andrew Edelman, George Edelman, Emil Edelman, David Edelman, Phillip Edelman, and John J. Edelman; six sisters, Anna Edelman, Neoma Menold, Ruth Edelman, Adeline Kaeb, Fanny Menold, and Waiva Edelman.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Christian Apostolic Church in Sabetha, Kansas. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 22, 2018 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha. Interment will be made in the Sabetha Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sabetha Community Hospital or the Apostolic Christian Home or to a charity of the donor’s choice, sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia, Sabetha, KS 66534.
