Mary Herrmann
October 16, 1912 — October 25, 2007
Mary M. Hoffman Herrmann the daughter of Joseph Hoffman and Georgia Steele Hoffmann was born on a farm near Sycamore Springs on October 16, 1912. She was one of six children born to this union.
Mary attended Pleasant Valley School north of Sycamore Springs and in 1932 graduated from Sabetha High School. She worked 9 years at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and later years at local grocery stores. She was secretary for the Albany Historical Society for several years.
Mary was a member of the Congregational Church in Sabetha and also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #7285. Mary was united in marriage to Alvin Herrmann on October 1, 1938. One son was born to this union.
Mary died on October 25, 2007 at the Sabetha Community Hospital at the age of 95.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin Herrmann on July 10, 1988; her son, Stephen Herrmann on October 14, 2003; three brothers, Merrill Hoffman, Emerson Hoffman and Ralph Hoffman; two sisters, Irene Hoffman and Ruth Gaddie.
Mary is survived by a daughter-in-law, Patricia Herrmann of Herington, Kansas; two grandsons, Scott Herrmann and Craig Herrmann; sister-in-law, Hazel Hoffman of Seneca, Kansas and 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 29, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. The interment will be made in the Sabetha Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sabetha Nutrition Center or the Sabetha Community Hospital sent in care of the funeral home.
