Mary Larimer

M ary Marcena (Hundley) Larimer, 103, of Sabetha passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.

Marcena was born on September 15, 1910 at Council Grove, Kansas the daughter of John and Maude (Gallaspie) Neiberger.  Marcena attended a country school until the 9 th grade.  Marcena was united in marriage to Joseph Hundley on June 26, 1928 at Hiawatha, Kansas.  Joe passed away on October 30, 1981.  She married Charles Larimer in March of 1986 he passed away on June 22, 2002.  Marcena worked at numerous jobs one being a partner with Joe at Hundley Salvage Yard.  She was also her mother’s caretaker for many years.  Marcena’s pride and joy was her children and grandchildren.  In later years her hobby became making quilts, she made over 100 quilts.  After Charles death she lived with Bev and Bill Meister from 2002 until 2012 when she entered the Apostolic Christian Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Betty Hundley; two sisters, Roberta Osborne and Shirley Fletchall; three brothers, Melvin Neiberger, Marvin Neiberger and Roy Neiberger; a great grandson, Michael Gerber; a great great grandson, Charles Meister.  She is survived by her son, Joseph (Mary Frances) Hundley of Sabetha; two daughters, Roberta Aragabright and Beverly Meister both of Sabetha; a step son, Scotty Larimer of Carbondale, Kansas, 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren.

Funeral service is Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the NorthRidge Church in Sabetha with Pastor Michael Dean of the United Brethren Church officiating.  Casket bearers are Waylan Meister, William Meister, James Argabright, Josh Argabright, John Hundley and Dustin Hecht.  Honorary casket bearers are Ben Argabright, Phillip Argabright, Lance Frey, Matthew Hundley, Travis Hecht, Jeremy Grimm, Cassidy Grimm, Lucus Dalinghaus, Jacob Dalinghaus and Tyler Dalinghaus.  The family will greet friends Monday evening from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha. The interment will be made in the Sabetha Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the United Brethren Church sent in care of the funeral home, 823 Virginia, Sabetha, KS 66534.
