Mary Meade, Centralia, KS lost her hard fought battle to cancer on Monday, Dec. 27, 2010.

She was born March 3, 1939 in Centralia, KS to Andrew and Eva Lister Myers. She attended Centralia Schools. She married Ronald Meade on June 27, 1956 at Coal Creek. He preceded Mary in death on May 18, 2003.

Mary was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Corning, KS.

For many years Mary worked as a seamstress at the Dress Factory in Onaga, KS. In 1999 she received her Certified Nurse’s Aide certification and began working at Eastridge Care Home in Centralia, KS where she worked until she was diagnosed with cancer.

She is survived by four sons; Ron Meade Jr. (Amanda) of Emporia, KS, Bill Meade (Lisa) and Tim Meade (Theresa) of Centralia, KS, and Tom Meade (Shari) of Council Grove, KS; Five daughters, Mary Keller and Diane Schmitz of Topeka, KS, Martha Thompson (Mike) and Bernice Ronnebaum (Dennis) of Centralia, KS and Liz Meade of Mesa, AZ. She is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. She is survived by her mother Eva Savago Myers, Onaga; brothers, Andrew Myers, Temecula, CA, Galen Myers, Wakarusa, KS, Doug and Tony Meyers of Topeka, KS and sisters, Grace Correll, Onaga, KS Judy Ransdell, Linn Valley, KS, Hazel Kerr and Sandy Wagner of Fulton, MO.

She was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Myers, her sister Bernice Nolte and 2 grandchildren Jason and Paula Ronnebaum.

Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, December 29, 2010 at 10:00 am at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Corning, KS. Father Arul Carasala will celebrate the Mass. The rosary will be prayed on Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm at the church. Mary will lie in state at the Hayes-Popkess Funeral Home from noon on Wednesday until 5:00 pm when she will be moved to the church for the rosary. Casket bearers are, Doug Thompson, Dusty Thompson, Scott Meade, Tristan Meade, Cody Meade, Tyler Meade, Dylan Meade, Brent Ronnebaum, Nick Williams, Dustin Elliott and Austin Elliott. Burial will be in the Coal Creek Cemetery, south of Centralia.

Memorials are being left to the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or Nemaha County Home Health and Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home (Mailing address 814 Castle, Seneca, KS 66538).
