Maxine Myers

Maxine Rachel (Helphingstine) Myers, died Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the age of 94. Maxine was born December 1, 1916 on a farm near Sabetha, Kansas, the daughter of John A. and Mable M. (Meyer) Helphingstine.
Maxine grew up in the Seneca and Sabetha areas and graduated from Sabetha High School in May of 1936. On September 15, 1936 she married Earl A. “Nabb” Myers.
Maxine was a homemaker and devoted mother and friend. She was a founding member of the Sabetha Saddle Club and was an avid horsewoman. Maxine was involved with the Sabetha Hospital Guild, the Albany Unit, and was a lifelong member of the Church of the Brethren.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nabb on April 28, 1981; her sister, Marjorie, her sister, Katherine and her twin brother, Max.
Those left to honor her memory are her son, Harrison of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Patricia Kirwan of Cape Coral, FL, and daughter, Linda Wertenberger (Phil) of Sabetha, KS; grandchildren, Rhonda Kirwan of Estero, FL, Randall Kirwan (Flora) of Sabetha, KS, Douglas Wertenberger (Anne) of Sabetha, KS, Paul Wertenberger (Christina) of Falls City, NE and Aaron Wertenberger (Tiffany) of Clay Center, KS; great-grandchildren, Amanda Kirwan of Estero, FL, Mateo and Alec Kirwan of Sabetha, KS, Hannah, Rachel, and Kirt Wertenberger of Sabetha, KS, Sara, Emily, and Jessica Wertenberger of Falls City, NE, and Brecken, Leighton, and Zoe Wertenberger of Clay Center, KS.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Home (South Village). A visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the South Village. Interment will take place in the Sabetha Cemetery. The family request that instead of floral gifts, a donation to the Nursing Scholarship Fund at the Apostolic Christian Home.  Memorial contribution may be made to the Apostolic Christian Home, sent in care of the funeral home.
