M axine Webber Wurzbacher, 88, the daughter of Clayton and Pearl (Duncan) Webber was born on January 4, 1925 at Webber, Kansas.
She attended Webber High School for three years and graduated from Mankato High School in 1942. She attended Stricklers Business College in Topeka. Kansas and worked for the State Commission of Revenue and Taxation, The State Fire Marshal Department and the State Corporation Commission.
She was married at Osawatomie, Kansas to Paul Wurzbacher on October 29, 1949. In 1950, they moved to Sabetha and farmed in partnership with his parents until their deaths and until they retired and moved into Sabetha in 1988. She worked at Fountain Villa Nursing Home from the day it opened in June of 1965 until June of 1981.
She died on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Wurzbacher on July 14, 2012; six brothers, Roy Webber, Wayne Webber, Marvin Webber, Harry Webber, Max Loye Webber and Fred Webber; two daughter-in-laws, Sharon and Mary. She is survived by two sons, Larry Wurzbacher of Atchison, Kansas and Ray Wurzbacher of Palm Bay, Florida; a sister, Fern Croaston of Colorado Springs, Colorado and four grandsons, one granddaughter, five great granddaughters and 2 great grandsons.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. The interment will be made in the Sabetha Cemetery. Memorial contribution may be made to the Sabetha Senior Citizens Nutrition Center or to the Apostolic Christian Home sent in care of the funeral home.
