Merle Marti

M erle Edward Marti, 99, of Sabetha, KS passed away Sunday morning, January 8, 2017 at the Apostolic Christian Home.
Merle was born July 25, 1917 near Bern, KS to Louie and Martha (Sommer) Marti. He lived most of his life in the Bern area, working for the Nemaha County ASCS office for many years. In 2005, he moved into an apartment in Sabetha, and in June of 2016 into the Apostolic Christian Home.
Merle enjoyed being outdoors, and spent many hours hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also enjoyed visits from family and friends, leaving them with many fond memories.
Merle was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Corrina; a brother, Harry Marti; a brother-in-law, Raymond Braker; and two nephews, Paul and Dan Braker.
He is survived by a sister, Lu Etta Braker of Pittsburg, KS, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha, KS. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be made at the Sabetha Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Home, sent in care of the funeral home, 823 Virginia, Sabetha, KS 66534.
