Mildred Hollister

October 28, 1929 — January 7, 2015

M ildred M. (Wenger) Hollister passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Sabetha Community Hospital.

Mildred was born on October 28, 1929, to Jacob and Stella (Moser) Wenger at Bern, Kansas.  She graduated from Bern High School in 1946.  She continued her education at college in Illinois where she earned a teaching certificate.  She taught for several years in country schools and Bern schools.

Mildred was united in marriage to Fred Hollister of Sabetha on August 26, 1951.  To this union one daughter, Lorraine Kay was born.

Mildred, Fred and Lorraine resided in the Sabetha and Bern area until August of 1965 when they relocated to southwest Iowa after purchasing a feed and grain business.  Mildred was the company’s bookkeeper for over 30 years.  Mildred and Fred returned to Sabetha in 2001 after retiring.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Wilma Schuster; a brother, Allen Wenger.  She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Fred of Sabetha; her daughter, Lorraine Stastny and her husband, Mark of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sisters, Lola Wilson of San Diego, California and Allene Plant and her husband, Bill of Westwood, Kansas and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the NorthRidge Church in Sabetha.  A visitation will be from 9:30 until service time at the church.  The interment will be in the Sabetha Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the NorthRidge Church Building Fund sent in care of the Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia, Sabetha, Kansas  66534.
