Milosh Edward Kabriel, 90, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Marysville, Kansas.

He was born May 20, 1917 on a farm south of Summerfield, Kansas the youngest son of Frank Kabriel and Frances Suchy Kabriel. He was a twin and his twin sister died at age 10.

He attended the Mina School near Summerfield and grew to manhood working on the family farm.

He served in the US Army and served from February 2, 1942 until October 2, 1945, of the 44 months he spent in the service 40 of them were spent overseas. He served in the Pacific Theater, spending most of the time on the islands of Luzon, Guadalcanal, Villa La Villa and New Zealand. He came home with a good conduct medal, service medal, machine gun medal, 3 battle medals and a case of malaria. Some 50 years after the war he received a bronze star, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign medal, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Infantry Badge, Philippine Liberation Medal and Honorable Service Lapel Button. During the war he was a machine gunner and served as a squad leader. Before being honorably discharged he attended the rank of sergeant.

He was married on June 18, 1951 to Helen Creevan at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Summerfield, Kansas. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in June of 2001. This June they would have been married for 57 years. They lived on a farm south of Summerfield for 24 years. When he retired from farming they moved into Summerfield. He spent his time in Summerfield mowing the church cemetery, tilling gardens, and helping his sons-in-law on the farm. He loved gardening and had a big garden.

He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Summerfield, the VFW Post 2699 of Marysville, KS and the Anderson American Legion Post #25 of Wymore, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents', he was also preceded by his twin sister Mildred, sisters, Helen Sejkora and Emma Rohrer, and brothers, Frank, Ernest and Joe.
He is survived by his wife Helen of the home in Summerfield; daughters, Jeanette Salts and her husband Rolly of Bloomfield, Nebraska, Vicki Kabriel of Manhattan, Kansas, Debra Stock and her husband Newell of Summerfield, Kansas, Karen Hardin and her husband Gale of Blue Springs, Nebraska, and Rene Scheideler and her husband Dave of Ord, Nebraska; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, April 4, 2008 at 10:00AM at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Summerfield. Father Albert Hauser O.S.B. will celebrate the Mass. Sheryl Burger will play the organ and sing with the Holy Family choir. There will be an open visitation from 6:00 pm until the rosary is prayed Thursday evening April 3rd at 7:30 Pm at the Holy Family Church. Casket bearers are Brian Salts, Nathan Stock, Tyler Stock, Travis Hardin, Alex Scheideler, Adam Schuster and Chad Beckmann. Burial will be made in the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. With full military honors by the Anderson American Legion Post #25 of Wymore, NE and the Nebraska National Guard. Memorials are being left to the Milosh Kabriel Memorial Fund and can be sent in care of the Landreth-Popkess Funeral Home in Axtell, Kansas.
