Myrtle Ford

February 11, 1915 — February 26, 2008

Myrtle Frances Ford was born on February 11, 1915 at White Cloud, Kansas the daughter of Abraham Troxell and LaVina Christian Troxell. As a child she attended and graduated from Cedar Creek School.


On January 25, 1939 Myrtle married Martin Ford at the Nemaha County Courthouse in Seneca, Kansas. They became the parents of two sons. Myrtle spent her entire adult life living and working in the Sabetha community. Myrtle was a lifelong member of the First Lutheran Church in Sabetha. Her strong faith was exemplified through her generosity and joy in the Lord as well as her faithfulness as a living wife and mother. Family was always Myrtle's primary concern. Martin and Myrtle were married for 61 years.


Myrtle died on February 26, 2008 at the age of 93 at the Sabetha Manor in Sabetha where she lived since November of 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Martin Ford on January 14, 2000; nine brothers and sisters. Myrtle is survived by two sons, Eldon O. Ford of North Platt, Nebraska and Warren N. Ford and his wife, Debra of Broomfield, Colorado; 4 grandchildren, Traci Hopping of Peru, Nebraska, Kimberly Duggan of Paxton, Nebraska, Rodney Ford of Auburn, Nebraska and Tucker Ford of Atchison, Kansas; two sisters, Mildred Roberts Jones of Frankfort, Kansas and Minnie Herrmann Smith of Washington, Illinois and a very close family friend Ed and Patty Stucky of Wichita, Kansas and 10 great grandchildren.


Funeral services will be Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. Family visitation will be Friday evening 6:30 to 8:30 P.M. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel. The interment will be in the Sabetha Cemetery. Memorial contribution may be made to the First Lutheran Church in Sabetha sent in care of the funeral home.
