Neal Sawyer

April 4, 1917 — August 20, 2007

Neal Sawyer, 90, of Sabetha, Ks. died Monday, August 20, 2007 at the Sabetha Community Hospital.

Neal was born April 04, 1917 at the family farm in Fairview, Ks. the son of Lawrence and Bessie VanDalsem Sawyer. He was one of five children born in this union.

Neal was a field man for the Mid- American Dairymen in Sabetha. He retired in 1982 with over forty years of service. He was a 1935 graduate of Fairview High School, and was a U.S Army Veteran of WWII.

He was married to Maxine Kimberlin on May 31, 1939; she preceded him in death on January 19, 2003. Two children were born to this union.
He was a member of the Northridge Church. Neal enjoyed gardening, especially flowers and music as he sang barbershop for many years.

Survivors include a son, Gary Sawyer and a daughter, Kay Cook and her husband Lynn, both of Sabetha, Ks, five grandchildren, Thom, Stacy, Thane, Jennifer and Kristi and four great-grandchildren, Becca, Emerson, Justin and Brittany.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at the Northridge Church in Sabetha with Pastor Kelly Sipes of the First United Methodist Church of Sabetha officiating. A family visitation will be Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. The inurnment will be private in the Hiawatha Cemetery at a later date and time. Memorial contributions may be made to Sabetha Community Hospital and Northridge Church.
