Normalee Beer

July 27, 1920 — April 30, 2007

Normalee Beer was born on July 27, 1920 at the family home southwest of Sabetha to John Beer and Julia May Foster Beer. She was one of six children born to this union. She attended school through the 8th grade at Victory School District #20. Later moving to Pennsylvania Avenue where they resided until moving to her present home in Sabetha. She especially enjoyed visits of her nieces and nephews visiting their grandparents. Normalee was a member of the Church of the Brethren she attended the Rock Creek Church where she participated in the church actives and taught a class of children. She helped her parents with farm duties and chores until the death of her father on May 27, 1965. After which she and her mother moved to Sabetha in October of 1966. After a short illness her mother passed away on June 27, 1968. Normalee worked as a nurse aide for 20 years at the Sabetha Community Hospital. Later as a certified nurses aide at the Fountain Villa Care Center for 17 years. During that time she worked at Ken's Diner for 12 years in the evening. She enjoyed caring for those who needed her help and seeing them regain their health. Normalee retired on October 15, 2002.

Normalee died on April 30, 2007 at the Apostolic Christian Home at the age of 86.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Freddie Dale Beer at the age of 1 year old and John Alvy Beer at the age of 90; two nieces, Nelda Edelman Boren, Martha Jean Arick; three nephews, Robert Lee Arick, Gary Feek and Brad Beer.

She is survived by three sisters, Emma Edelman of Sabetha, Ruth Arick of Osage City, Kansas and Helen Feek of Sabetha and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 4, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. A family visitation will be Thursday evening 6:30 to 7:30 P.M. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel.

The interment will be in the Sabetha Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Delaware Baptist Church or to the charity of the donor's choice sent in care of the funeral home.
