Patricia "Pat" Hughes

W ith profound sadness we announce the passing of Pat Hughes. Pat Vern (Roney) Hughes passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.

Pat was born in Wichita, KS on November 8, 1932 to Dr. Mike and Jeri Roney.  She attended Monticello Women’s College and graduated from the University of Kansas.  Pat married Dick Hughes and they raised their two children, Mike and Tracy in Sabetha.

If you were fortunate enough to have known Pat, you may appreciate a few of our memories, her love of Miller Lite, her love of gathering with lifelong friends, her love of lady bugs, her infamous dance with beer cans on her feet and her immense love of Sabetha, family and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dick Hughes on September 14, 2014.  She is survived by her son, Mike (Cheryl) of Bend, Oregon and her daughter, Tracy (Michael) of Chicago; her three beloved grandchildren, Danielle, Alex and Emily; her sister, Sally (Forrest) Hoglund and three nieces.

Pat, your legacy lives through those who love you and were loved by you.

Pat will be buried at the Sabetha Cemetery in a private service.  Memorial contributions may be made in Pat’s honor to the Sabetha Library and the Albany Historical Society, sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia Street, Sabetha, KS 66534. There will no public viewing and no register book to sign.
