Patsy Weaver

P atsy Kay Weaver, 78, of Fairview died Friday, November 7, 2014, while staying in the Wood Heights of Hiawatha Nursing Home in Hiawatha, Kansas.

Patsy Kay Weaver was born at the Murdock Memorial Hospital in Sabetha on April 4, 1936, to Cecil and Mary Elizabeth Schmitt. She graduated from Fairview High school in 1954 and attended Clarks Business School in Topeka.  In June 1955, Patsy married Gary L. Fletchall.  They settled in Fairview for a time, before moving to Overland Park, Kansas and then on to Chillicothe, Missouri where they opened Fletchall Office Supply.  The couple divorced in 1983 and Patsy moved to Topeka where she worked for a company which acquired funding for Senior Citizen Apartments in Missouri and Kansas.  During her travels with this position, she met Rolland Weaver.  They married on November 9, 1985 and lived in Ellsworth, Kansas.  They opened the Kansas Keep Sakes.  They moved back to Fairview.  They took over the Cozy Café and ran it off and on for 15 years.

Patsy then helped Louise Fanning with the Fairview Enterprise until taking over in 1994 and ran till the present.  Patsy was a life time member of the Fairview United Church of Christ.  Directed and sang in the church choir.


Patsy was proud of Fairview and worked hard to make sure others had a town to be proud of.  She helped with lights up celebration, Double Nichel party, setting up FCDA, Evening in the Park, the Fairview Community Building, published the Fairview History book, etc.  She was honored by her peers when they gave her the Distinguished Alumni Award.

Funeral service will be Monday, November 10, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the United Church of Christ in Fairview.  A visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the church.  Interment will be made in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Hiawatha.  Memorial contribution may be made to the United Church of Christ in Fairview sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia Sabetha, Kansas  66534.
