Phyllis Jean Strahm

Phyllis Jean Strahm, 100, journeyed from this earthly life to meet her Savior face to face on Monday, December 15, 2025, at her residence in Sabetha, Kansas. She was born on January 7, 1925, the daughter of Karl and Mollie (Worwag) Moser in Sabetha, Kansas.

Phyllis grew up in Sabetha and attended Sabetha Public Schools, graduating Valedictorian of her class of 1943. She attended the University of Kansas for two years, majoring in pre-nursing, when she met the love of her life, Art Strahm. They were later married on December 2, 1945, and four daughters and one son were born to this union. Phyllis and Art made their home and raised their family on the family farm, northeast of Sabetha, in Art’s birth home.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Art, in 1995; her brothers, Marvin Moser and Dr. Marion Ross Moser, and his wife, Betty; a sister, Mildred Moser; a granddaughter, Brittany Jean Wenger; and a great-granddaughter, Jentry Anne Johnson.

Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Susan (Tom) Emert and Brenda (Jeff) Wenger, and her son, Craig (Jocelyne) Strahm all of Sabetha; her daughter, Michelle (Ben) Grove of Hiawatha, Kansas; her daughter, Cynthia (Jim) Pessetto of Shawnee, Kansas; her 20 grandchildren; and her 36 great-grandchildren.

Phyllis will be remembered for living a life of servanthood for her Savior, in service to her church, in the Gideons International Ministry, and to her family. She was a prayer warrior like no other, faithfully spending hours each day in committed conversation with her Savior, Jesus.

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His Saints,” Psalm 116:15, to which Phyllis had written next to in her bible, “Thank you, Jesus!”

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the NorthRidge Church in Sabetha. Before the service, a visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. The interment will be made in the Sabetha Cemetery in Sabetha. Memorial contributions are suggested to Gideons International, the NorthRidge Church Building Fund, and Nemaha County Home Health & Hospice, sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia Street, Sabetha, Kansas 66534.
