Reuben Moser

February 13, 1912 — April 6, 2007

Reuben Nicklaus Moser was born on February 13, 1912 the son of Joseph Moser and Anna Bieri Moser at rural Bern, Kansas. Three children were born to this union. He grew up in the Bern area and attended Union Rural School. He entered into farming as a young man.

Reuben was united in marriage to Stella Bauman on October 23, 1935 at Seneca, Kansas. Two children were born to this union. Reuben and Stella moved into Sabetha in 1968. Reuben went to work at Wenger's Manufacturing from 1968 until 1977. Reuben worked in his woodworking shop making toys, doll furniture, bird houses, marble games, folding fences and various other things. Many people in the community have wood workings that Reuben has made over the years.

Reuben became a member of the Bern Apostolic Christian Church after being baptized in 1948.

Reuben died on April 6, 2007 at the Sabetha Community Hospital at the age of 95. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Stella Moser on June 17, 2005; one brother, Edward Moser in 1973; one sister, Esther Moser in 1990.

He is survived by one daughter, Karen Chitwood of Casa Grande, Arizona; one son, James Moser of Bern, Kansas and 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.


Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. at the Bern Apostolic Christian Church with Ministers of the Church officiating. The Church Choir will sing selected hymns.

The Casket bearers will be William R. Bredemeier, Michael Edelman, Dean Menold, Terry Menold, Jim J. Meyer and Curtis Strahm.

A family visitation will be Tuesday evening 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. The interment will be in the Bern Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bern Apostolic Christian Church, Apostolic Christian Home or the Sabetha Community Hospital sent in care of the funeral home.
