It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Goodman, 87, beloved brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and lifelong farmer who passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Sabetha Manor in Sabetha, Kansas.
Bob was born on October 18, 1937, in Fairview, Kansas, and was the youngest child of Clay and Mary (Bindel) Goodman. After attending area country schools, Bob graduated from the eighth grade and began farming. In 1959, he married Mary Loveall. They settled on the family farm where they raised their two children. Although the marriage ended in divorce, Bob remained on the farm and continued to enjoy farm life with his longtime companion, Beulah Cook.
Bob spent over 50 years working on the farm, raising livestock, milking cows, gardening, and caring for his loved ones. He will be greatly missed but remembered for his loving nature, his commitment to hard work, his dedication to family, and his willingness to lend a helping hand to others.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Elvin, Walter, Albert, and Harry; two sisters, Verna and Wilma; and his longtime companion, Beulah Cook.
Bob is survived by his two children, Bryan (Rick) Goodman and Sherry (Virgil) Hutchcraft; two grandchildren, Ben (Sara) Hutchcraft and Ethan (Abby) Hutchcraft; two bonus grandchildren, Colby and Myra; three great-grandchildren, Noah, Emma, and a baby boy due in December; two sisters, Lucille Kissel and Mildred Dade; many other loving family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha. Before the service, a visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary. Following the service, interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery in Hiawatha, Kansas.
