Robert Steele

R obert E. Steele, age 91, formerly of Morrill, passed from this life to be with the Lord on Friday, August 3, 2012 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.

He was born on November 1, 1920 at Sycamore Springs to Frank and Dolla (Oxley) Steele.  He was a farmer, and dairyman in the Morrill area for 60 years.  He was called to serve his country from 1942 to 1945, where he served with the 1252 Army Air Force in which he so proudly served.  He was a deacon of the Morrill Cornerstone Bible Church serving many years.

On February 28, 1943 he was united in marriage to Gloria Gaston.  To this union was born two daughters, Sharon (Robert) Gruber of Hiawatha, KS and Karen (Ronnie) McGuire of Lynch, NE; one son, Mark (Faye) Steele of Morrill, KS.  He has 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria; parents, Frank and Dola and a brother, Dale Steele.

“Bob”, will be remembered for his big smile, hardy laugh and the love of his family.

He will be missed by a host of loving caretakers and many friends.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Morrill Cemetery.  The family will greet friends Monday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha.  Memorial contribution may be made to a charity yet be to designated by the family and sent in care of the Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha.
