Ruth Delilah Arick, 95, Burlingame, Kansas, formerly of Lawrence, Kansas, passed away early Saturday, August 21, 2010, at a Topeka Hospital.
She was born April 13, 1915, the daughter of John and Julia May Foster Beer, in rural Salem, Nebraska. She attended school at Sabetha,
Kansas. She married Donald S. Arick, February 18, 1937, at Sabetha. She and Donald farmed around Sabetha, Kansas and Humboldt, Nebraska until 1965, when they moved to Lawrence Kansas. She was a salad maker and baker for the dormitories at the University of Kansas until retirement. They moved to Burlingame in 1998 to be close to her daughter. She recently lived at Peterson Health Care, Osage City, Kansas.
She is survived by her daughter Donelda, and husband Richard Sage, Burlingame, KS; three grandchildren, Ange and husband Randy Anstaett, Edie and husband Jerry Higgins, and Eric Sage; 10 great grandchildren, Michael Anstaett and wife Katie, Sarah, Benjamin and Elizabeth Anstaett, Gabriel, Samuel and Ruth Higgins, and Mollie, Rebecca and Hannah Sage. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, who died November 25, 2005, her parents, brother Alvy, sister Normalee, and infant children Martha and Robert Arick, and a granddaughter, Denise Clink.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at Popkess Mortuary, Sabetha. Burial will be in Sabetha Cemetery. Mrs. Arick will lie in state from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, at Carey Funeral Home, Burlingame, where visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Visitation at Sabetha will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time Tuesday, at Popkess Mortuary, Sabetha.
