Ruth Sibold-Compo

Ruth Elaine Sibold-Compo was born on July 13, 1945 the daughter of Harold Sibold and Hazel Campbell Sibold at Sabetha, Kansas. She was one of six children born to this union. She grew up in the Fairview area and attended Fairview rural schools and graduated from Fairview High School in 1962. After graduation she was united in marriage to Ray Compo. Three children were born to this union. They later were divorced. Ruth enjoyed reading her Bible and going on picnics with family and friends and enjoyed swimming. She was a member of the NAMI of Kansas (National Alliance on Mental Illness).


Ruth died on April 20, 2009 at the Newman Memorial County Hospital in Emporia at the age of 63. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Sibold. She is survived by her mother, Hazel Sibold of Sabetha, Kansas; one daughter, Christine L. Thompson of Lawrence, Kansas; two sons, Steve Compo and Paul Compo both of Sabetha, Kansas; three brothers, Harold Ralph Sibold of Eskridge, Kansas, Roger Sibold of Hayes, Kansas and Doug Sibold of Sabetha, Kansas; two sisters, Anita Mendez and Joyce Sibold both of Topeka, Kansas and 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.


Graveside services will be Saturday, April 25, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sabetha Cemetery. Family visitation will be Friday evening 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. Memorial contribution may be made to the NAMI of Kansas (National Alliance on Mental Illness) 112 South-West 6th Street Topeka, Kansas 66601 sent in care of the funeral home.
