S hirley Ann (Mars) Davin, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on June 21, 2017 into the arms of Jesus at the age of 80.
She was born on March 14, 1937 to Leo George and Beatrice Mars. Shirley was born and raised on the family farm and helped her dad with chores and helped her Mom with cooking. She loved to ride her horse Colonel. She graduated from Centralia High School in 1955. She was one of the captains of the cheerleading squad and homecoming queen her senior year. In 1955, she married Lester Jule Davin and had four children. In El Paso, TX she liked to bowl and bowled on various leagues. She spent several years modeling for a modeling agency and worked as a manager for Budget Rent a Car in El Paso, TX. She then became a stewardess flying on various airlines to many exciting places. She moved to Austin, TX and retired so she could spend more time with her family. She volunteered at Seton Hospital and drove cancer patients to their appointments. She also enjoyed volunteering at the University of Texas Basketball and Football games. She attended church each Sunday and any opportunity they had available at church to serve, she would serve. She made crafts and had a craft booth for several years. She loved to walk and could walk for many miles and still want to keep walking. Shirley loved music and anytime it played she would begin to dance.
She lived life to the fullest every day. Like her dad, she never met a stranger and she always had time to enjoy listening and talking to her new friends. Shirley wanted to tell everyone of her love for Jesus Christ and how he had changed her life. She deeply loved her family, her church family and her many friends. She will be sorely missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Richard Mars; and a nephew, Brent Burdiek.
She is survived by two daughters, Joni Davin of Tecumseh, KS, and Kristy (Larry) Sheppard of Broken Arrow, OK; two sons, Michael (Karrie) Davin of Pine, CO, and Robert Davin of Tecumseh, KS; her grandchildren: Nathan, Joshua, Johanna, Jeremiah, Kayla, Cody, Garin and Marra; her sisters, Margaret Bonjour and family of Centralia, KS, and Darline Costa and family of Onaga, KS; and a brother, Bob Mars and family of Vermillion, KS.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Centralia Community Church (East). Visitation will be Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Popkess Memorial Chapel in Seneca. Interment will be made at the Neuchatel Cemetery in Lillis, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Kansas Hospice Care and would be greatly appreciated, sent in care of the funeral home, 814 Castle, Seneca, KS 66538.
