Wayne Dodge

November 12, 1931 — July 13, 2009

Wayne V. Dodge was born on November 12, 1931 at Horton, Kansas the son of Arthur L. Dodge and Bessie N. Hansen Dodge. He attended and graduated from Fairview High School in 1949. He was united in marriage to Wanda Bailey on August 5, 1949. He lived and farmed in the Fairview area most of his life. Wayne loved hunting, fishing, bowling and just about anything that got him outdoors. He caught two state record fish, wrote and had a book published about his dog-TEKE. He wrote "Outdoors with a farmer" and articles for some local papers for several years. Wayne was united in marriage to Evelyn Couch on November 7, 1999.


Wayne died on July 13, 2009 at the Sabetha Manor at the age of 77. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wanda Dodge on March 30, 1999; two brothers, Dwight Dodge and Lyle Dodge. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Dodge of Sabetha; two daughters, Rita Winters and her husband, Charles of Holton, Kansas and Vonda Dietrich and her husband, Grant of Morrill, Kansas; two sons, John Dodge and his wife, Lori of Sheridan, Wyoming and Sherman Dodge and his wife, Evelyn of Fairview, Kansas; two step-daughters, Aleica Moore and her husband, Bruce of Topeka, Kansas and Sonja Craig and her husband, Tom of Hayesville, Kansas and 9 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren.


A memorial service will be Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha, Kansas. The inurnment will be private by the family at the Isely Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairview Community Building or the Nemaha County Home Health & Hospice sent in care of the funeral home.
